 the FARO Laser Tracker makes Large Scale Measuring a Breeze - Industrial Measurement Solutions

The FARO Laser Tracker X is a portable, contact measurement system that uses laser technology to accurately measure large parts and machinery across a wide range of industrial applications.

Industrial Measurement Solutions uses the speed and accuracy of the tracker to inspect machines and equipment with minimal disassembly and down time. The rugged design of the Laser Tracker makes it excellent for the shop floor environment.

Industrial Measurement Solutions utilizes the FARO Laser Tracker to assess the accuracy--or inaccuracy--of any machine or machine tool. We will look beyond linear displacement and see its entire working volume. The Tracker measures 3-D coordinates with its laser by following a mirrored spherical probe. With high-accuracy angular encoders and FARO’s XtremeADM (Absolute Distance Measurement), it reports the 3-D position of the probe in real-time.

The model X is the first ADM-only laser tracker, delivering high-accuracy, portable measurements. It enables Industrial Measurement Solutions to inspect or align large parts, assemblies, and machinery on-site, in-process, or wherever it’s most efficient and cost-effective for our customers.

3-D Cad Model Inspection

The CAM2 software also allows us to import 3-D models into the system for inspection.  Once the model is loaded into the software we measure a few features of the part being inspected and orient the Tracker to the part.  Then the inspection is as simple as moving the mirrored spherical probe to any surface or hole needing inspected and taking a measurement.  The software will then identify the position of the probe to the Nominal dimension from the model, then compare the nominal dimension to the measured dimension and give the deviation between the two.
